Any stimulus can be used to measure RT60. RT60 is the time it takes (ENERGY/sound) to drop by 60dB.
Some have used blank gun shots, balloons, church hymnals, dog clickers, and even plastic coke bottles (works if you lost the dog clicker). These are used with a stop watch and your ears. The problem is repeatability, frequency range, directionality, and signal/noise ratio.
If your using SMAART live 5 you should be just fine using pink noise or pink sync. They are much better than the above stimulus.
